Bozeman Climbing Comp Update!

Great Job to all the climbers and parents!

On November 3, 2007 local climbers with the Core Mountain Climbing Team competed in the American Bouldering Series (ABS) Competition in Bozeman, Montana at the Spire Gym and brought home several top placements. The ABS Competition boasted 143 registrants from a five state region plus climbers from Canada. Competitors ages ranged from 7 to 69 years, and included many top climbers in the region. Among this hardcore group, eleven members of the Core Climbing Team placed in the top ten, including three first place finishes. Core Climber Kerrek Stinson, advanced to the finals where he competed against the top five climbers at the competition and took second overall. The next ABS Competition will be held at Steepworld in Billings, Montana on November 17. The following Core Climbers placed in the top ten in Bozeman:

Bozeman Climbing Comp!

The Bozeman Full Gravity Day is this saturday November 3. All parents are responsible for filling out registration forms and liability waivers. You can download and print out a registration form from the link above. I will be there early to help team get situated and warmed up, but will be unable to provide any transportation. I would advise getting to the gym by 9:30am at the latest, as the registration desk will be busy.

1:00pm – 5:00pm Heat 2 – Masters, Intermediate and Open
5:00pm Slackline Comp

6:00pm Pizza, Prizes and Party

All competitors must attend the pre-comp meeting which will be held 15 minutes prior to the start of their heat.

Price:
ABS member $30
Non ABS member $35
-Pizza and beverages will be available for free or at a very very affordable cost.
-All entry fees from the open category will be used for the cash purse.

Who:
Boys and Girls ages 8 to 18 with previous climbing experience, an established interest in rock climbing, and their own personal gear, consisting of climbing shoes, harness, chalk bag, and chalk.

When:
The Season will run from October 22 into May depending on regional qualifications.
There will be breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break, which will be announced.

Practices on Mondays (strength) and Wednesdays (technique) Fridays will be optional (Strength) 4pm - 5:30pm. First practice will be October 22. Tentative competitions are the USAC (USA Climbing) competitions, the 307 Bouldering comps held in Wyoming, and the Regional Championship the third week of May.

Expectations:
Athletes are expected to attend all practices and competitions, try their best, and bring an attitude of respect for themselves and others.

Alternate Option:
The Core Climbing Gym after school climbing program is recommended for those seeking a more casual youth climbing atmosphere.

Cost:
$70 a month over 6 months or a one-time fee of $370 for the season. This fee includes gym membership and coaching only. Competition fees are an additional cost around $30 each and USAC membership around $50. There will be additional costs for travel to competitions and possible over night stays. We will try and work as a team of parents and kids to keep costs of travel down for each individual.
